According to architect Kirsis De los Santos (Chairman Committee on Tourism Zones) the amphitheater at the head of the Malecón of Puerto Plata will be ready in late August and inaugurated with an large celebration.
De los Santos made the announcement at the end of the opening ceremony of the hotel Sunscape Resorts & Spa Playa Dorada.
This ceremony was attended by President Danilo Medina, Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier Garcia, Mayor Walter Musa, governor Ivan Rivera, some other officials and commanders of the police and the air force base.
The construction of the amphitheater has been delayed for more than a year.
The amphitheater will provide a seat for 5100 people and provide a platform for music, theater, dance and film.

Puerto Plata has to become more attractive to the tourists with this theater.
The hope and expectation is that the cruise ship passengers are willing to attend a performance at the theater.
