They also calculated that 66% of them, visited the various tourist attractions of Puerto Plata and surrounding areas.
The historic center and the cable car of Puerto Plata were the most popular.
They also believe that many went to visit the beaches of Sosúa and Cabarete.
The restaurant and shop owners at Sosúa beach however, say they unfortunately have welcomed very few cruise ship tourists.
According to Carnival Cruise Lines 80% of the tourists hails from the USA, the other tourists (20%) from European countries.
