Monday, February 27 is the day to celebrate the memorable fact that 173 years ago, the independent 'República Dominicana' was proclaimed.
The parade starts around nine o'clock in the morning in Charamicos, here they make a tour through the neighborhood.

They leave Charamicos at the Caribe Tours bus station and walk towards El Batey.
The parade walks through the Calle Pedro Clisante, next they stop for a few minutes at the park with the flags where a memorial is arranged.

At the parade all the schools of Sosúa take part.
But also representatives from the police, fire brigade, civil guard, officials and mayor Ilana Neumann.
For this festive day the main street Pedro Clisante is closed for traffic all day from Calle Duarte to Cafe Cubano.
After the parade the street will be turned into a free market where individuals and business owners sell their wares, like ice cream, jewelry, clothes, fruits and vegetables and even hot dogs.
For the children there are various activities such as a bouncy castle, dunk tank, kids games, temporary tattoos and much more.
Furthermore there will be set up several terraces where visitors can enjoy a drink and a snack.
The party continues in the evening and the street stays closed to traffic.
The bars and restaurants put their tables and seats in the street so the visitors can enjoy a nice evening in Sosúa.
