During his reign (until now), President Danilo Medina, doubled the number of school buildings and school hours for students of primary and secondary schools.
At least, he has made a serious attempt to do so, but unfortunately not all went according to plan.
Because there is a shortage of qualified teachers, many of the newly built schools couldn't even be used.
President opened education center
In Cabarete a new school wasn't used for more than a year.
But on Tuesday, April 4th the president opened an Educational Center in Cabarete.
He did it with the cutting of the ribbon.
The center can accommodate 665 students and is equipped with a (chemical and physical) lab, and classrooms for science, engineering and administration.
There is also a well-equipped library and kitchen.
The building has 21 classrooms and has cost 70 million.
The opening was attended by the Ministers of Public Works and Education and the mayors of Cabarete and Sosúa.
There were also hundreds of students, teachers and parents present.
The priest Francisco Alberto Polanco had taken it upon himself to bless the school.
